The cryptocurrency boom in 2017 got people excited about investing or buying crypto currency, suddenly people became multi-millionaires from the mysterious Bitcoin. There were many challenges and confusion around what Bitcoin was and how to get it, but there was one thing people knew — they wanted in. As the hype wore down, people’s patience also diminished. It was no longer okay to have complicated platforms that seemed impossible to navigate and even more confusing to understand what they were getting themselves into. Introducing Quick Trade - a no frills approach to trading.

PROBLEM & APPROACH

Compromising between two costumer types doesn't cut it

A realization: we needed two

different offerings.

Interviews, secondary research, and design explorations show that customers with sophisticated trading needs are frustrated when they are forced to first pass through a rudimentary interface while those seeking a simpler, retail-orientated approach are overwhelmed when exposed to the information and tools sought out by investors.

Coinsquare currently enables anyone to trade with as little as $100, so why were the crypto-curious not coming into our platform?

Rather than continuing to seek compromise, we proposed offering separate the customer experience, selecting the appropriate experience to present to a given customer based on the preferences articulated and behaviour demonstrated through interactions in the application and public content.

Introducing Quick Trade📝

Quick Trade is a new offering aimed at allowing early-to-late majority customers to get started in buying and selling digital currencies. Offering a streamlined feature set — buy, sell, send — Quick Trade is readily adopted by individuals normally disinclined to view digital currencies as a traditional form of investment. Customers adopting the new offering also benefit from the security, regulatory compliance, and liquidity of Coinsquare’s main exchange.

Based on our user research — we realized that the type of user interested in this platform would likely Hold onto their coins rather than liquidate them s a traditional trader would. Many considerations were taken: from explorations in copy to full UX capabilities – our clear goal was to create a simple, and easy to understand card.

Holding on with the ease of trade

Based on our user research — we realized that the type of user interested in this platform would likely Hold onto their coins rather than liquidate them s a traditional trader would. We created a trade UI that enables costumers to generate different quotes and easily translate to the the FIAT equivalent value of their trades. Demystifying the final amount which users would receive. Users would be able to see their transaction history, as well as a link out to the blockchain as the trade was happening.

It shouldn't be hard to get your money

Competitor reviews highlighted that other trading apps force users through several steps before making a withdrawal. The product, design, and development team streamlined this process for Quick Trade users, shipping the minimum viable experience needed to securely provide customers with all they need to complete withdrawals.

Setting up the design system & foundations for later teams

A large volume of customer feedback highlighted the need for simplistic market charting within the app. We designed screens that allowed the user to toggle between timeframes and quickly discover the previous and current prices of the supported coins.
